Spot UV
Selective high-gloss varnish over matte, catching light on logos and patterns.
Cards innovation partner
Modupay designs, manufactures, personalizes and delivers payment cards across the Middle East and Africa — from a card factory and personalization bureau in Cairo to bureaus in Ghana and Kenya. One partner from artwork approval to the card in your customer's hand.
Design, manufacture, personalize, package and deliver under one contract and one SLA
Metal, PVC, recycled PVC, translucent, LED, fluorescent and fragrance card bodies in production
Laser engraving, drop-on-demand printing, embossing and indent printing on the same line
Instant issuance puts a named, active card in the cardholder's hand at the branch counter
Why Modupay
Most issuers stitch together a manufacturer, a bureau, a courier and a processor. Modupay runs all four as one modular service — so a card program launches once, not four times.
01
Chip embedding, lamination and finishing in a scheme-approved, access-controlled facility with full material traceability.
02
Design, produce, personalize, package, dispatch and track — one contract, one SLA, one point of accountability.
03
Metal, translucent, LED and recycled substrates with foil, spot UV and colour-core finishes that survive real production tolerances.
04
Teams on the ground in Egypt, Ghana, Kenya and Libya — local logistics, local regulators, local turnaround times.
The production line
Our design team works from your brand guidelines to a production-ready file — bleed, chip window, hologram placement, contrast for embossing, and scheme artwork rules checked before submission.
Proof 03
Artwork approval
Draft → digital proof

Design Lab
A concept only counts once it holds up on the line. Our Design Lab develops your card with the production team in the room — so finishes, substrates and scheme rules are resolved before tooling, not after the first reject batch.
Concept
Segment-led directions with real substrate and finish options costed up front
Proof
Digital proofs, then physical samples produced on the same equipment as the run
Approval
Scheme artwork submission handled by our team, with revisions tracked to sign-off
Innovation portfolio
Seven substrates in production, each with its own segment logic. Open any card for materials, lead-time and use-case detail.
Premium card experiences
Seven production finishes, layerable on most substrates. Hover or focus a tile to see the effect behave.
Selective high-gloss varnish over matte, catching light on logos and patterns.
Hot-stamped metallic gold for logos, edges and typographic detail.
Cooler metallic register that reads as precision rather than luxury.
Iridescent holographic foil that shifts hue with viewing angle.
Dense screen-printed ink for flat, saturated blocks and tactile texture.
A contrasting inner layer that shows as a coloured edge around the card.
Photoluminescent elements that hold light and read in the dark.
Layer them
Most finishes combine — foil over silk screen, spot UV over colour core. Ask for a sample set.
Precision personalization
The personalization method sets the look, the durability and the cost per card. We match it to the substrate and the segment.
Data burned into the card body rather than printed on it — permanent, tamper-evident, and the standard for metal cards.
Metal · premium PVC
Full-colour inkjet personalization for photos, variable artwork and per-cardholder designs, without new tooling.
Variable data · full colour
Raised characters with tipping colour — the familiar tactile finish, still required by some acceptance environments.
Raised · tipped
Recessed characters, typically on the reverse, for CVV2 and service data that must stay legible for the card's life.

Instant card issuance
In-branch personalization lets your team issue and activate a live debit or credit card during the same visit — the same EMV data preparation as our central bureau, executed at the counter.
In-branch issuance · live EMV personalization
Sustainability
Recycled PVC cards perform identically at the terminal and on our personalization lines — so switching a portfolio is a materials decision, not a migration project.
Sustainability recognition
Acknowledged for recycled card production in the region.
Questions issuers ask
Card production is the manufacture of the physical payment card — printing, lamination, chip embedding and finishing — while personalization is the secure application of cardholder and EMV data to that card, including chip data preparation, laser engraving or embossing, and PIN issuance. Modupay provides both as one service across the Middle East and Africa.
Modupay operates a card factory and EMV personalization bureau at its Cairo headquarters, with regional personalization bureaus in Ghana and Kenya. Cards have been exported to more than 170 banks and fintechs across 30+ countries.
Yes. Personalization is available as a managed service for centralized volumes, independent of where the card portfolio is processed. Issuers already on Modupay's platform gain tighter integration between issuance, personalization and fulfillment.
Dual-interface and multi-application EMV cards, metal cards, recycled PVC cards, translucent cards, LED cards, fluorescent and fragrance cards, Braille and notch cards for accessibility, and wearables such as wristbands and payment stickers.
Pre-manufactured card stock is held at the branch and personalized on a desktop or kiosk device at the moment of issuance. EMV data preparation runs the same way as in the central bureau, so the cardholder leaves with a named, active card and sets a PIN by app, IVR or mailer.
